Project Scope

Since 2023, Biggs Design Engineering (BIGGS) has been working with one of Australia’s largest energy companies in the coal seam gas industry to update their existing suite of technical specifications for mechanical equipment and piping systems. These specifications are utilised by the company’s engineers and designers to design new or modifying existing upstream gas facilities such as wellsites, gas plants and compression facilities. BIGGS updated the technical requirements of each specification to ensure that they applied the latest requirements of the industry codes and standards, applied lessons learnt, and were concise and easy to use for company personnel.

The technical specifications revised to date have been those applicable to the piping and mechanical engineering disciplines. Going forward the company will also be engaging BIGGS to revise their civil and structural technical specifications.

This project has involved revision or development of the following technical specifications:

Pressure Vessels Design, Fabrication, Installation and Testing.
Skid Assemblies (Packaged Equipment).
Protective Coatings for piping, mechanical equipment, and structures.
Heat Exchangers (shell and tube, air-cooled, and plate).
Pipe Supports design, fabrication, and guidance on support type selection.

Metallic Piping Fabrication, Installation and Testing.
Process Plant Metallic Piping Materials.
Manual Metallic Process Plant Valves.
Non-Metallic Pipe – Assembly Guideline. Above Ground Pipe Systems
Pipe Specifications and valve datasheets for carbon steel, stainless steel, and non-metallic systems.
